Miley Saves the World!

Well, maybe not yet, but if anyone can get the tweens, teens and tweakers-in-between to pay attention to a good message, 15-year-old Disney prom queen, Miley Cyrus, can. I thought I might crash her website just trying to listen to this new "eco-anthem" of hers on her latest CD, but what was I thinking? Her new album "Breakout" came out a whole week ago, so it's been in the mitts of the above mentioned demographic for that long or longer, so I did get to sample the track "Wake Up America" without incident. After I shook off the notion that it wasn't just Stevie Nicks after a few pulls on a helium balloon (really, how does that Miley get so raspy at such a young age? Billy Ray? Anybody? Who knows the answer?), I listened to Miley's emphatic rant:

"Oh, can you take care of her?

Oh, maybe you can spare her/ several moments of your consideration/leading up to the final destination.

Oh, the earth is calling out/I want to learn what it's all about, but everything I read is global warming, going green.

I don't know what all this means, but it seem to be saying:

Wake up America, we're all in this together

It's our home, so let's take care of it..."  And on from there she goes.

So it's not Thoreau or Dylan, or even Spears... (oh wait. She's never actually written any songs, has she?)

but it's still better than all lip gloss, boys or "Oh, my saucy Vanity Fair spread/Oh, I'm flung all over my Achey-Breakey Dad..." sung to the same beat.

So props or snaps or bumps or whatever is lately, to our little lady of Disneydom and all its curses blessings. Nice use of the platform, you smiley Miley, you. Seriously.

G'on, you know you want to.
